Esthetic Crown Lengthening
– Fixing the Gummy Smile
Are you concerned that too much gum tissue shows when you smile? We can help give you the smile that you have always wanted. The process entails moving the gum line up through a surgical procedure that can seem simple (please see: "About Conscious Sedation") and heals quickly.
There is an ideal proportion, length-to-width (the teeth should be about 75% as wide as they are long), for teeth to have a pleasing appearance. If your "gummy smile" is due to incomplete exposure of the crowns of the teeth, then Esthetic crown lengthening can be all you need. If the teeth are worn, or discolored, or misshapen, it is common to have veneers or crowns done by your restorative dentist after Dr. Harvey has done the esthetic crown lengthening. The patient shown here did elect to have veneers after her esthetic crown lengthening.
If you are dissatisfied with your gummy smile and/or feel that your teeth are too short, contact our office today for a consultation appointment to see if esthetic crown lengthening is right for you.
